Our Registered Nurses treat all types of wounds
To treat a wound, nurses need to classify it in order to choose the right treatment. Wound types come from verifying the way the wound happened and the damage received by the body in that area. There are four types of wounds our nurses treat:
Abrasion. These type of wounds are like burns from rubbing or scraping your skin against a rougher surface. It mainly affects the skin but it may go deeper into the flesh. Treatments for this one usually include cleansing and infection prevention.
Avulsion. These are very visually impacting wounds since skin and flesh tend to separate from the body in most cases. They usually happen from violent incidents like car crashes or explosions. And they usually require cleansing, treatment to prevent infections, and suture or skin glue.
Laceration. These type of wounds usually result in deep cuts and skin tearing. They usually come from the use or interaction with sharp edges like knives, or any unprotected tool or sharp surface. In those cases wounds usually need pressure to stop the bleeding and the nurse will also clean and apply an infection prevention treatment.
Puncture. These are small area round wounds that can go deep into the body. These are very dangerous, since depending on their location, they can be affecting internal organs. These wounds can be caused by nails or any long pointy object. Treatments require infection and tetanus prevention.

Proper care, protection and prevention against infections and complications
Once our nurses have established the type of wound and its condition they apply a treatment accordingly.
Pain management
If the wound is strongly affecting your nervous system and the pain is hard to endure they may give you a numbing agent that blocks the pain in the affected area.
Suture and Infection prevention
If your wound is an avulsion or a deep laceration, our nurses after proper cleaning will suture or skin glue the wound. But if there is any risk of infection, the wound may be left open for future cleansing and treatment while it heals naturally.
Extreme situations
In some extreme cases of laceration you may require surgery. In those situations our nurses will make sure your wound is without danger to travel to a medical facility. They will monitor your condition at all times on the way, to make sure your body is stable and your wound is cared for and properly treated.
Aftermath
Our nurses will be equipped to assist with antibiotics (for those cases of possible infections), pain killers, and medications as prescribed by the doctor for you to feel well the days after the treatment.

Complications
Prevent your wound from ever going to extreme situations
The lack of care and correct wound treatment may result in serious complications like muscle contraction from tetanus, tissue loss and sepsis from Streptococcus, Cellulitis infection, and more. Since all complications usually rise from infections, the risk of infection in wounds is usually what our nurses try to remove when taking care of wounds.

If your wound is infected it may be detected in several ways:

Your wound is producing thick pus.
It smells badly.
You have a fever.
It is a little bit swollen and hurting under your yaw, or your armpit, or your groins.
Days have passed and the wound is the same.
